Donna Hopkins of Belmont has announced her candidacy for the Maine House of Representatives District 43 (Belfast, Belmont and Northport) seat. Hopkins is a lifelong resident of Midcoast Maine, was educated in Belfast schools, and graduated from Belfast Area High School in 1969. Her professional career has been in various sales, customer service and project management positions, working for local businesses.

“I don’t consider myself a politician in the traditional sense, just an ordinary, concerned citizen with years of real-life experience, who knows what it’s like to work, raise a family, and live on a budget here,” Hopkins said. “In the Legislature I will focus on strengthening Maine’s economy, and will work for sensible tax policies and fiscal responsibility and accountability. My years of experience in sales and customer service have taught me how to listen to clients, and will help me to be an effective representative of your concerns in Augusta.”

Hopkins and her husband, Steve, have been married for 42 years and live in Belmont. Together they have one daughter and four grandchildren.
