Local filmmaker Rick Winslow has put out an open casting call for his movie-in-progress, “The Girl with the Red Purse.” Although the film focuses on Vinalhaven, the shoot in question will be at the Southend Grocery within the next few weeks, depending on the weather and other contingencies. Winslow is looking for approximately 10 extras.

“It’s an unpaid role, but name of extras in the scene will be in the credits. There is no guarantee that all extras will be in the scene, but there will be no duplication of roles in the film. It’s a one-time shot,” he said.

Ages may vary, but Winslow is looking for mostly adults. Teens (he may use two or three) will require a parent or guardian’s release. No speaking is required, other than what people might normally do to interact with others in a store. Timeframe is just post-1972 as far as clothing goes; tattoos are okay, but not current themes. Each extra will be required to sign a release to use his or her likeness, uncompensated, other than a reference in the credits if their likeness is used.

Those chosen will be notified and must be available for a day shoot; 24 hours advance notice will be given. Those interested in being involved should send a current photo and contact information, availability and acting experience, if any (none is required) to tgwtrp@islandfilm.info or Rick Winslow, WAV Media, LLC, 31 Philbrick Ave., Rockland, ME 04841-2512.
