All Waldo County veterans are encouraged to attend a veterans appreciation night Friday, May 25, at the Tarratine Tribe 13 Bingo Hall located at 153 Main St. in Belfast.

The appreciation night is being co-sponsored by the Improved Order RedMen, Degree of Pocahontas, Belfast American Legion Post 43 family, the Northport memorial V.F.W Post 6131 and AmVets Post 6829.

Becky Gibbons, who is assisting Beverly Flagg with organizing the event, said the idea to host an appreciation night came up after Flagg contacted local veteran’s groups.

“We wanted to do something for the veterans to show our appreciation,” Gibbons said.

The appreciation night will consist of a variety of patriotic musical selections, poetry and other musical talent.

Gibbons said the event is open to Waldo County veterans and their families only and all of the veterans who attend will be given a pin and certificate recognizing them for their service.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. with a spaghetti dinner following at 5 p.m.
