The high school baseball and softball regular seasons are coming to a close, which means players in Waldo County will be turning in their uniforms by the end of the week.

Belfast, Mount View and Searsport squads will each fall short of their respective regional postseasons, which will begin next week.

The following is a recap of recently-reported results:

Baseball

Nokomis 8, Belfast 6 (8 inns.)

At Belfast May 25, the Warriors broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the eighth inning with a four-run frame as the visitors picked up a two-run victory in extra innings.

Damion Benner rapped four hits for Belfast, while Steve Paul had three hits and Greg Clark and Lucas Clark, both two hits.

For Nokomis, Justin Amoroso doubled and singled, while Chandler Foss doubled and Justin Kasprzak homered for the visitors.

The Lions committed four fielding miscues.

Sumner 5, Searsport 4 (8 inns.)

At Sullivan May 28, the Tigers walked off with a one-run win over the visiting Vikings.

Jake Powell rapped a two-run double for Searsport, which tied the game with a three-run seventh inning. Sumner’s Justin Chipman singled in the bottom of the eighth inning and later scored on an RBI-groundout by Aaron Leighton to win the game.

Softball

Nokomis 5, Belfast 0

At Belfast May 25, the Lions could not muster any offense as the Warriors picked up the shutout win.

Sarah Packard tossed a no-hitter for the Warriors, walking six and striking out two. Taylor Lovely doubled, singled and had two RBIs for Nokomis, while Megan Perry added two singles for the visitors.
