Waldo County Triad is again selling daylily gift cards redeemable at the Maine Garden for Organic Daylilies in Waldo, courtesy of owner Bill Warman, who is a hybridizer of unique Maine-hardy plants.

Using a gift card bought through Waldo County Triad, you pay hafl the usual cost of the lily at the garden. At the garden most of the lily plants at the sell for $10, so you can use a $5 gift card from Triad to select a lily costing $10 at the garden.

The cards are attractive and make a nice gift for yourself or someone else. Triad sells cards costing $5, $10 or $25. These cards can be used to buy one or more lilies costing $10, $20 or $50. All of the funds raised through the sale of daylily cards go to provide services to improve the safety of Waldo County people 50 and older.

There are two ways to buy daylily cards. You can get the cards at the office of Broadreach in Belfast, or you can buy them through the mail. To buy them at Broadreach, go to the office on Route 1 in Belfast opposite the Wentworth Event Center between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. To buy cards through the mail, send: your name, mailing address, the number and value of each card you wish to buy, and a check for the total amount to: Waldo County Triad, P.O. Box 125, Belfast, ME 04915.

Those buying cards will receive directions to the garden off Route 131 in Waldo. The garden opens May 1 and remains open until Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

If you have cards that were purchased in previous years that you have not redeemed, they are still valid. Be sure to use them to brighten your garden or to get a nice gift.
