Boy Scout Troop 77 honored Revolutionary War Veteran, Ichabod Tibbetts, on Memorial Day, immediately following presenting colors in the Liberty parade on Monday. The Troop performs maintenance and upkeep of the relatively remote cemetery and grave-site. Interested in learning more about the cemetery and unmarked headstones, they have found genealogy basics about Tibbetts’ family online and some property records and historical information at the Liberty town hall.

The granite monument is engraved: “Ichabod Tibbetts, Soldier in Revolutionary War, born 1749, died 1842, this monument erected by Benj R. Tibbetts.” For more information on this project or joining Boy Scout Troop 77, contact Dana Valleau at 215-4582.
