Dale Wayne Potts, 63, of Bokeelia, Fla., passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, May 31, 2012, in Lincolnville while visiting family in Maine.

Dale was born in Oklahoma on June 3, 1948. Dale lived a rich and well-traveled life, serving our country in Vietnam as an airborne parachute rigger where he earned the Purple Heart. His employment as a manager included the installation of cable television in Scotland; several retirement communities across the country; a marina in Astor, Fla.; and an inn on the coast of Maine. In addition, he sold real estate for Gulf Access Realty in Matlacha.

He leaves behind his wife, Betsy Dunn-Potts; his parents, Norm and Wallace Hesse of North Ft. Myers, Fla.; four sons, Bryan, Derrick, Dallas “Kyle” and Jordan; and two daughters and their spouses, Ladleah Dunn and Shane LaPrade, and Darcy Dunn and Casey Penn; and his sister, Sherrie McBride and her spouse, Dale McBride. Dale had two grandchildren, Lyran and Isabella. Dale was dearly loved and cared for by so many, and he will be missed.

He loved the waters of Pine Island Sound. The fish in those waters can now swim in peace.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 8 on Charlotte Harbor, Fla. Boats will be leaving from the Tow Boat US building location at the end of Portobella and Judd Creek in Bokeelia.
