Lawrence Whitcomb, 66, of Newburgh was headed north on the North Dixmont Road in Troy in a 2007 Dodge truck with an attached cattle trailer. The vehicle struck a bump in the road and Whitcomb told police he believed a tie rod end broke in the truck because he lost all control of the steering and the brakes. The vehicle left the road on the left side, struck some small trees and a large rock. The trailer contained a few young steer, which appeared to be uninjured. Whitcomb complained of pain in his back after the accident, and Unity Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene to treat him. Whitcomb’s passenger, 62-year-old Lois Whitcomb, was not hurt in the accident.

Robert Allen Cawthron, 20, of North Billerica, Mass., gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual touching.
