The public is invited to the opening reception for “Pop Objects, starring Dick, Condi & Friends” Friday, July 13 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Marc Leavitt Art Studio, 153 High St. (upstairs), as part of the Friday Night Art Walk. The show will run through July 22.

This 10-day exhibition will feature Leavitt’s complete Bandage Flags series and introduce “So? (Dick Cheney)” and other paintings and collages not previously exhibited.

Leavitt’s first “Pop Objects — Flag painting riffed on Jasper Johns’ “Flag on Orange Field” and included under-layered painted photographs of “gun-totin’ bikini-clad babes” and their weaponry to realize a 20th century vision of America. “So? (Dick Cheney)” reflects on a new American underbelly of a Johns surface.

Galerie Swanstrom featured Marc Leavitt’s paintings at New York’s Affordable Art Fair in April. Juried shows with the Cambridge Art Association in Massachusetts include artworks distinguished by Directors’ Choice Prize, Honorable Mention Prize and National Prize Show recognitions. The artist has participated in more than 15 solo or group exhibitions over the past decade.
