The Coastal Children’s Museum invites Midcoast families to Move IT! Wednesday, July 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the air-conditioned Pilgrim Room of the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm St./Route 1.

The three-year-old nonprofit organization is holding the fundraiser in the form of a family dance party, offering a great evening of dancing, refreshments, face painting and a special balloon raffle. In addition to great music, Zin Zumba instructor Emily Lawry will lead the group in a Zumba sampler of this popular new exercise. Special healthy treats will be provided by the Good Tern Co-Op.

“I just love the idea of an entire family moving and dancing together instead of sitting in front of the television or computer screen,” said Megan Rogers, Outreach Coordinator for the museum. “This event is a fantastic way to support early childhood educational in this community and have a ball doing it.”

Tickets are $10 or four for $35 and can be purchased at the door and in advance at Rock City Café in Rockland and Planet Toys in Rockland and Camden. One also may purchase advance tickets at the Coastal Children’s Museum, located at 75 Mechanic St., in Rockland.

Based at Sharp’s Point South, Coastal Children’s Museum offers more than 21 interactive hands-on exhibits that explore the natural world; the arts and sciences; and the diversity of Maine’s coastal areas. Move IT! is the second in a series of fundraising events to benefit the museum and its efforts to bring programs, events and outreach to the Knox, Lincoln and Waldo counties.
