The Common Ground Country Fair poster design contest is underway. Each year the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association hosts a contest to find a design that captures the essence of its annual fair. The winning design is featured annually on the iconic Common Ground Country Fair poster and T-shirt.

The poster for the 2012 Common Ground Country Fair, unveiled in January at MOFGA’s annual meeting during the Maine Agricultural Trades Show in Augusta, features a vibrant bunch of intertwined garlic scapes drawn by Veazie artist Lyndsey Monroe Marston of Three Legged Dog Ink. MOFGA is accepting entries for the 2013 poster until Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 4 p.m.

MOFGA invites Maine residents and MOFGA members, regardless of their residence, to submit a design for the 2013 Common Ground Country Fair poster. The selected design is featured on the fair poster, T-shirt, website, fairbook cover and promotions. The winning artist receives $1,000 and is featured in MOFGA’s quarterly newspaper, The Maine Organic Farmer and Gardener.

Complete guidelines, including technical specifications, eligibility requirements and an entry form are available via the “Poster” link at commongroundcountryfair.com; or contact the fair office at 568-4142 or commonground@mofga.org.

The Common Ground Country Fair is MOFGA’s signature celebration of Maine’s organic farms and diverse rural communities. Upwards of 60,000 people attend the three-day celebration held annually in Unity. The schedule for this year’s fair, Sept. 21 through 23, will be on its website soon.
