Stockton Springs Community Library will host acclaimed author/illustrator Chris Van Dusen of Camden Tuesday, July 24 at 9:30 a.m. as part of its summer series for children. Van Dusen will present his work, which the Mr. Magee series, Mercy Watson series, “The Circus Ship,” “If I Built a Car” and many more children’s books.
The award-winning Van Dusen has said that Dr. Seuss and Robert McCloskey were his heroes from a young age. For more than 10 years, he worked as a freelance illustrator specializing in art for children. His illustrations have appeared in Nickelodeon, Family Fun and Disney Adventures magazines. His first book, “Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee,” was published in 2000.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The all-volunteer library is located in the historic Colcord House on the corner of Main and Station streets. For more information, call 567-4147 or visit stocktonspringslibrary.org.
