The Iris Network, a community-based nonprofit organization advocating for people who are visually impaired or blind, has announced additions to its statewide staff of professionals and administrators.

Aisha Hixon has joined as vision rehabilitation therapy intern and will be assisting clients who have low vision or blindness with adaptations for daily skills in Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Maine in Therapeutic Recreation holds a Masters of Education Degree from UMass Boston in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy. Since 2010, Hixon has served as Community Connections Project Coordinator for The Iris Network.

Additionally, Julie Allaire has been hired as grant writer for the organization and will direct her efforts toward generating much needed revenue for The Iris Network’s current and future programs by developing grant proposals and identifying foundation and government funders. Allaire holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy.
