Mike Fletcher of Jackson is the guest artist through Aug. 26 at Åarhus Gallery, 50 Main St. The public is invited to a Friday art walk opening reception for him and his paintings Aug. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.

A graduate of Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Mass., and one-time monitor at The Art Students League, Fletcher has been working on the Midcoast Maine for the past 20 years, except for his time as a street artist in New York City. He refers to his work as visual poetry, without rhyme or reason; using mostly found imagery including vintage wallpaper, he creates montages in paint. Fletcher’s work has been shown throughout New England and has been collected by celebrity authors, restaurateurs and musicians.

Also showing will be the work of Aarhusians Kevin Johnson, Mark Kelly, Richard Mann, Wesley Reddick and Willy Reddick. The gallery is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (to 8 p.m. during art walks) and Mondays by chance. For more information, call 338-0001 or visit aarhusgallery.com, which includes a slideshow.
