On Saturday, Aug. 11, 25 budding thespians age 10- to 13-years-old will take to the Northport Music Theater stage for two performances of the musical “The Attack of the Killer Grasshoppers,” the culmination of their weeklong studies at the Northport Music Theater camp. Performances will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at NMT, located on route 1 between Lincolnville Beach and Belfast.

In “Grasshoppers,” written by Robert Swift with music by Gerald Castle and lyrics by Michael Vigilant, young actors get to be mammoth, musical grasshoppers while threatening the world … and it all begins at the King Neptune School’s annual science fair. Directing are RSU 25 educators Tara Woods of Lincolnville and Mary Cuskelly of Bucksport, with costumes and sets created by Emily Widdoes of Lincolnville. Woods and Cuskelly co-directed last summer’s “Bugsy Malone Junior” at NMT last summer.
