BCTV 2 will launch a new series, “Wonderful Women of Waldo County,” Saturday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m., repeating Monday, Aug. 27 at 8:30 p.m. The half-hour programs will air at various times through September; check belfastcommunitytv.org for all programming times and dates.

Ned Lightner, station manager at BCTV 2, has dubbed the producers of this new series “Three Babes and a Camera.” The three are Katie Winship, who produces, among other things, the weekly First Church program; Karen Saum, an occasional producer of current programs as well as classics like “Working Women of Waldo County” available on Vimeo; and Elinor Goldberg, director of the “Working Women” tapes, as well as one about May Sarton, also available on Vimeo.

The first episode of the “Wonderful Women” series is about Carol Yee, horticulturist with greenhouses in Swanville, and the second features Belfast actor and artist Sonia Sanchez. All the shows begin with a recording of the song “Wonderful, Wonderful Women,” written and performed by Jennifer Armstrong and Kathryn Robyn.
