This year’s free Country Roads Artists and Artisans Tour open studio tour is set for Friday through Sunday, Sept. 14 through 16.

The annual tour encompasses 20 artists’ and artisans’ studios in Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville, Warren, Appleton and Hope, showcasing the highly refined skills of local craft designers and artists. It includes a wide variety of work, some of which uses centuries-old techniques, while other work takes advantage of more modern processes. Media includes pottery, handmade books, paintings, jewelry, furniture and other creations in wood, fiber art, sculpture, metal pieces and art glass.

The tour gives visitors the exceptional opportunity to not only see and purchase the artists’ creations, but also to meet and chat with the artists themselves. While many of the studios are normally open only by appointment, they will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. each of the three days of this special open studio weekend.

Free color brochures, which serve as year-round directories to the studios as well as guides for the tour weekend, can be downloaded at Each studio will be marked with a bright pink banner during tour days.
