The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will hold a Handcrafters’ Day Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Waldo Community Building, Route 131, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration is dependent on workshop chosen and includes materials. Lunch will be available for $5.

Six volunteers will lead workshops on quiltmaking. The sessions are co-sponsored by the Waldo County Extension Homemakers’ Council and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 17.

Topics and presenters are: Yo-yo Quilts Are Back From the 1930s, Sue Blais; String Quilting with Fabric Scraps, Judy Hanson; Painting Flowers on Quilt Blocks, Charlotte White; Fabric Ornaments, Candy Resmini; Paper-Pieced Quilting, Nancy Sullivan; and Double Irish Chain Quilt Design, Pat Pierson.
