Maine Prisoner Advocacy Coalition’s (M-PAC) next meeting is open to everyone interested in humane, restorative conditions for Maine prisoners. Holding the meeting in Belfast is based on M-PAC’s decision to expand this energizing and important advocacy work to more Mainers.

The Saturday, Sept. 15, meeting will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon (doors open 9 a.m.) at The Belfast Library, 106 High Street, Belfast.

M-PAC’s goals and successes include an end to solitary confinement, keeping for-profit prisons out of Maine and advocacy for families of prisoners. M-PAC’s mission is to lower incarceration rates through alternative sentencing, advocate for sentencing revisions, and strengthen ethical treatment for prisoners, victims of crime, and all affected by excessive incarceration rates in Maine and throughout the country.
