Law enforcement officials with Troop D of the Maine State Police responded to the following incidents in Waldo County between Aug. 25 and Sept. 9. Anyone with information regarding ongoing investigations is asked to call 1-800-452-4664.

Aug. 25

Kent Palmer, 60, of Winterport was charged with operating with an expired driver’s license Class E.

Aug. 27

Trooper Benjamin Sweeney responded to North Main Street in Winterport for a complaint of a trespasser. Sweeney warned the individual to not come back to the property.

Sgt. Patrick Hood stopped a vehicle on Route 141 in Swanville for a speeding violation. Maurice Darres, 30, of Belfast was summoned for operating after suspension and released.

Trooper Shawn Porter stopped a vehicle in Swanville for a passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt. Jason Tozier, 28, was summoned for being a passenger consuming alcohol or in possession with an open container; given a warning for his seatbelt and released.

Aug. 28

Trooper James Macdonald charged Wayne Curtis, 51, for operating after suspension after stopping his vehicle on Swan Lake Avenue in Belfast.

Aug. 29

Sgt. Hood investigated a complaint of the theft and forgery of a check in Winterport. The complainant was unwilling to file charges.

Police responded to Old County Road in Stockton Springs for a possible assault and child custody issue. The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney in Belfast for review.

Aug. 30

Trooper Bethany Robinson responded to West Mallard Lane in Swanville for a report of a possible burglary. The complainant arrived home and discovered someone hiding in his office behind a door. Mindy Patten, 21, of Swanville was summoned for criminal trespass.

Trooper Jonathan Russell charged Donald Abbott-Roy, 20, of Newport with burglary, theft and operating after license suspension after completing a burglary investigation in Knox.

Aug. 31

Trooper Sweeney responded to Old Cove Road in Winterport for a reported burglary of an empty home. The residence had a broken window and an air conditioner and roll of copper were missing. The incident is still under investigation.

Trooper Sweeney responded to Swan Lake Avenue in Swanville for a report of a camp that was burglarized. An iPod and iPad were taken. The incident is still under investigation.

Sept. 4

Trooper Evan Teel responded to Acadia Highway in Montville for a report of property damage. The front door was kicked in but no items were taken from the home. It is believed the suspects were deterred by the homeowner’s large German Shepherd dog.

Roxanne Conroy, 22, of Thorndike was summoned for theft after Trooper Teel received a complaint of a gas drive off from Morrill General Store.

Sept. 5

Trooper Teel stopped David Barton, 52, of Liberty for a speed violation on Route 220 in Liberty. Barton was charged with operating under the influence, possession of a useable amount of marijuana and open container of alcohol.

Trooper Benjamin Sweeney responded to Atlantic Highway in Northport for a reported burglary of a vacant residence. Doorknobs, parts, miscellaneous copper, a chainsaw and a metal pedal cart were taken. The theft is still under investigation.

Sept. 9

Trooper Teel responded to a single vehicle accident on Main Street North in Searsmont. The driver left the roadway and struck a utility pole. He was transported to Waldo County General Hospital and later released with no injuries.

An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
