Register now for this fall's Maine Coast Men weekend retreat, happening Friday through Sunday, Oct. 12-14. The cost for the weekend is $100 and scholarships are available. Maine Coast Men is a self-run men's weekend retreat that takes place at Tanglewood 4H Camp in Lincolnville.

Each weekend starts with the potluck supper on Friday night, followed by an opening circle of peers where each man stands and speaks about the theme set for the weekend as to himself and what he hopes to do or accomplish. There are workshops of all kinds, put on by guys attending the weekend, on things like families, ocareers, drumming, singing, dancing, storytelling, and so on. The food is vegetarian, prepared by attendees volunteering during the weekend and everyone helps out. There's a variety show, where men get to show off what they know, or perhaps have fun with what they don't. The weekend comes to a close with another circle where participants can all share what they experienced and learned.

The theme for the October 2012 weekend is Stone Soup. With the food harvested and the summer’s work done, it's on fall and then winter. It’s time to rest, renew and replenish ourselves. It’s also time to share the richness and bounty of one's efforts with friends and relatives — to share oneself, one's stories, and to create the next stage of one's life. Pause and rebuild one's strength.
