Cassie and Maggie MacDonald, a dynamic sister duo who have that have been wowing audiences across Canada with their blend of original and traditional Celtic music, will perform Thursday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts, 42 Depot St.

Cassie’s fiddle playing has been described as sweet and elegant with just the right amount of raw power while Maggie’s piano playing has an irresistible drive that leaves feet incapable of staying still. Cassie is an award-winning highland and step dancer and also sings harmony for Maggie. In addition to her piano playing, Maggie sings lead, plays guitar, banjo and accordion and also is an accomplished step dancer.

The sisters’ music fits together seamlessly encompassing various styles from Cape Breton reels to Antigonish polkas, Quebecois fiddling and footwork to Downeast standards. Their vocal harmonies are sweet yet powerful, and their step dancing exact and exciting, all driven by youthful charm and energy.

Tickets are $15. the show is presented by Skye Theatre.
