Law enforcement officials with Troop D of the Maine State Police responded to the following incidents in Waldo County between Oct.3 and Oct. 7. Anyone with information regarding ongoing investigations is asked to call 800-452-4664.

Oct. 1

Trooper Shawn Porter located a painting lying in the road on Route 1A in Frankfort. The painting was packed inside a black contractor-style trash bag. The item was not reported missing or stolen. Anyone with further information regarding the rightful owner of the painting is asked to call 1-800-452-4664.

Oct. 3

Trooper Jeremiah Wesbrock responded to a request for assistance from the Winchester, Mass. police department to help a Belfast family retrieve their mentally challenged adult son from a group home.

Police charged Michael Curtis, 24, for operating a motor vehicle with expired registration greater than 150 days after stopping his vehicle on Starrett Drive in Belfast for having an expired registration.

Oct. 7

Trooper Porter summoned Scott Weinhold, 18, for operating after suspension and unnecessary acceleration noise after stopping his vehicle on Route 3 in Belfast for squealing his tires.

An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
