Waldo County General Hospital has two new Certified Emergency Nurses (CEN). Letitia Stover and Carolyn Koopman recently passed the extensive exam to become certified.

CENs are registered nurses who specialize in treating patients who arrive in the emergency room with acute injuries, critical illnesses and other potentially life-threatening conditions. They must be quick and able to efficiently respond to a variety of medical situations.

Kimberly Spectre RN, who manages the nursing staff in the emergency room at the hospital, said having these two nurses become certified "is a good reflection of the knowledge and confidence of emergency room nurses and is a great indication of the quality of care patients receive in our emergency room."

Stover and Koopman are the third and fourth Certified Emergency Nurses at Waldo County General Hospital.
