Futurist Bob Olson will share some thoughts from the book he is writing Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincolnville Community Library, corner of Main Street and Heal Road in Lincolnville Center.

Olson’s in-progress “The Big Picture” looks at the amazing things people have learned about the universe over the past century and what those insights may mean for society in the future.

“Did you know that everything has a common origin? That stars had to die so that we might live? That every aspect of nature has conspired to be ‘just right’ for life to exist and if any of the constants or laws of nature were only slightly different no life would exist?” Olson asks in his work.

Olson is a senior fellow at the Institute for Alternative Futures in Virginia where he served for many years as research director. He has worked with organizations of all kinds including environmental groups, chemical companies, international organizations and local citizens groups.

There will be refreshments and plenty of time for discussion following Olson’s talk. For more information, send email to fireweed@tidewater.net.
