The Belfast and Mount View girls soccer teams renewed their longstanding athletic rivalry on the pitch Oct. 17 in a season-ending game.

When the dust settled from the evenly-played, 80-minute affair, the host Lions had secured a 1-0 victory. The win avenged BAHS' 2-1 loss to the Mustangs earlier in the season.

On Oct. 17, Ashley Littlefield scored with 33:52 remaining in the first half to give the host Lions the 1-0 win. Other than that goal, the game was a defensive struggle. Breann Cummings and Logan Basford played in net for the Lions and Mustangs, respectively.

Mount View had beaten Belfast 1-0 Sept. 22 in Thorndike, so, the two Waldo County rivals split two regular-season games.

Belfast finished 2-11-1 and 15th and Mount View 1-12-1 and 17th in the 18-team Eastern Class B region. Presque Isle finished first at 13-1.
