Donald L. Bonney, 69, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 18, 2012, in Portland. He was born July 21, 1943, in Rockland, a son of John and Phyllis (Harriman) Bonney, who predeceased him.

Donald served four years in the Navy aboard the USS Boxer. He retired from the US Postal Service after 25 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, traveling several times to Alaska, and enjoyed golfing with his groups of friends. Donald was a lifelong member of the American Legion and VFW Posts of Belfast.

He is survived by a son, Eric Bonney, and his wife, Mary, of Swanville; grandchildren Matthew and Ryan Bonney of Swanville and Cassie Bonney of Albion; step-grandson Derek Curtis of Swanville; his companion of 16 years, Betty Miliano, of Belfast; stepsons Trevor and Blake Miliano of Belfast and Tony Arsenault of Homer, Alaska. He will also be missed by a brother, Eugene Bonney, of Belfast.

At Donald's request, there will be no services held at this time.

Memorial donations may be made to American Legion Hall Charities, or VFW Charities.
