The Belfast Area High School Outing Club will host its fifth annual Swan Lake Ice Fishing Derby on Sunday, Feb. 10.

The event begins at 10 a.m. and will conclude at 5 p.m., when the final fish will be weighed.

Tickets for the event are $5 and can be purchased at the Belfast Area High School office, Swan Lake Grocery in Swanville, Outdoor Sportsman in Northport, Belfast Variety, Fraternity Village and Dodge Corner Bait Shop. Proceeds will benefit the BAHS Outing Club.

The event ticket also enters recipients in a raffle for door prizes, which include an ice auger (first prize), a cord of firewood (second prize) and two ice auger motor covers (third prize).

Prizes will be awarded for first ($100), second ($75) and third ($50) for heaviest togue, salmon and trout.

The weigh-in station will be in the parking lot across from Swan Lake Grocery.

Event coordinator Chris Bartlett said the derby has grown by leaps and bounds from its humble beginnings to now having its own sponsor in Swan Lake Grocery, which " has been very generous providing the prize money and also gives us a good easy access location to have the derby headquarters for weigh-ins and raffle drawings in the parking lot across the road from the store."

"We have had good turnouts over the years and fingers crossed good weather each year," he said.
