A Knox man wound up in jail after he went to the home of a former girlfriend and tossed a traffic cone through her bedroom window as the two were arguing outside a residence on Gordon Hill Road, police say.

David Whitney, 28, of Knox, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence criminal mischief following an incident that was reported at about 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10.

Waldo County Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton said Whitney was upset with the woman because she had a male friend staying with her at her home.

Whitney and the woman were arguing outside the residence, Trafton said, when the woman picked up a traffic cone and threw it at Whitney.

"He picked it up and hit a window with it," said Trafton. "He busted the window to her bedroom."

Whitney is scheduled to appear at Fifth District Court in Belfast Tuesday, March 5.
