Constance “Connie” MacDougall, age 82, of Kennebec Street, passed away on Saturday, Mar. 2, 2013, at her residence following a long illness.

She was born in Skowhegan July 24, 1930, a daughter of Harry and Emma (Verkrusse) Libby.

Connie was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, class of 1948.

She was a cheerful person and her smile captured the hearts of many. She loved doing yard work and worked for many hours in her rock garden, planting flowers with her little dogs at her side. When flowers bloomed, the birds would fly around and sing. Connie loved swimming, and taught her granddaughter, Heather, to swim at the age of 8 months.

She enjoyed walking with her dogs and talking with friends along the way. In the wintertime, Connie snowshoed a path for the dogs to run and play in the deep snow.

Connie enjoyed watching birds at their feeders during the cold winters; red cardinals were her favorite and were beautiful in the snow. She enjoyed animal shows and watching soap operas on TV.

Connie was a communicant of parish of the Holy Savior. In her later years she walked with a cane, but through it all her love and faith for the Lord grew stronger by the day.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda Frey, and husband Dennis of Swanville; sisters-in-law Rita DesRoches of Bethesda, Md., and Barbara Houck and husband Chad of Silver Spring, Md.; granddaughter Heather Frost and husband Mark of Prospect; great-granddaughter Lily Frost; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, and her husband, William MacDougall.

The family would like to offer a special thank-you to Maggie McNeal and caregivers, and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, for all the wonderful care given to Connie.
