A local youth escaped injury Friday morning, March 1, police say, after she skidded into the deck of a Lincolnville grange hall because she was driving too fast for the road conditions.

According to the accident report on file at the Waldo County Sheriff's Office, a 17-year-old female from Lincolnville was at the wheel of a 1996 Ford headed north on Belfast Road when she lost control on the slippery road surface. The Ford skidded off the road on the east side and hit the deck of Tranquility Grange Hall, destroying the deck on impact.

The teen was uninjured in the crash, but the vehicle was towed from the scene because of disabling damage on the driver's side.
