J. Wesley Malisk, 88, passed away March 14, 2013, in Belfast. He was born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., on Nov. 30, 1924, the son of George and Alma (Hauer) Malisk. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17, serving on the USS San Diego and saw action during World War II. He enjoyed flying planes and loved his dogs. Wes enjoyed driving his motor home with Lois all over the country, as well as with his daughter and her family. He acted as a tax assessor for Stockton Springs and was very involved in community activities. Wes was also active in the Searsport United Methodist Church.

He was predeceased by both parents; his first wife and a sister.

Wes is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lois (Creigh) Malisk, of Belfast; a daughter, Maryanne Malisk Murphy, of Atlanta; a brother, George P. Malisk, and his wife, Betty, of Aventura, Fla.; grandchildren Catherine Rose Marczan and Elizabeth Rose Murphy, both of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, R.J. and Christopher Marczan; nieces and nephews, Curtis J. Jones and Anne Malisk; special friends George and Rochelle Russell, Cindy Bulkley and the Rev. Steven McLeod.

A memorial reception was held March 18 at Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast. Those who wish may make donations in Wes’ memory to Searsport United Methodist Church, 43 E. Main St ., Searsport, ME 04974 or Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
