Police are awaiting blood-alcohol test results for the driver involved in a one-car accident on Swan Lake Avenue Tuesday afternoon, March 26.

According to the accident report at the Belfast Police Department, 53-year-old Mark Goguen was headed south on Swan Lake Avenue in a 2003 Volkswagen when he went off the road and struck a utility pole, coming to rest in the lot in front of Pooler's Truck Repair.

The report from the responding officer, Belfast Sgt. Walter Corey, stated the reason for the accident was not clear to the driver.

"The driver said he doesn't know why the crash occurred," stated the report.

The accident report states that blood-alcohol test results are pending, but it indicates that Goguen was under the influence of either medication, drugs or alcohol. Records at the Belfast Police Department did not indicate that Goguen had been charged as of Friday afternoon, March 29.

Police at the scene said Goguen did not suffer serious injury, but he was transported by ambulance from the scene. The accident report indicated that Goguen complained of pain in his legs. Belfast Police Department and Belfast Fire and Rescue responded to the accident.
