A 16-year-old Searsport girl escaped serious injury after losing control of her vehicle on Harriman Road in Swanville and striking a tree Tuesday, April 2.

Ben Seekins of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said the teenage girl was driving on Harriman Road around 11:30 a.m. in a PT Cruiser when she swerved to avoid potholes before driving onto the shoulder of the road. The vehicle then spun around in the road ending up in the ditch where it struck a tree and rolled onto the roof.

Chief Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff's Office said the vehicle struck the tree on the passenger side before rolling over in the ditch. The 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser was totaled, Trafton said.

The girl was bleeding from her head when officers arrived, but was otherwise unhurt. She was transported to Waldo County General Hospital for evaluation.

Alan’s Towing of Belfast towed the vehicle from the scene.
