The following is a synopsis of the 2013 Searsport District High School baseball team:

Coach/years coached current team: John Frye, first year.

Last year's record/playoff information: 2-14, 16th in Eastern Class C. The Vikings did not qualify for the playoffs.

Roster: Seniors Austin Bean (first base), Zach Beaudry (outfield), Matt Coffin (pitcher, first base), Kaleb Cook (pitcher, third base), Buddy Ellis (pitcher, shortstop), Darren Harriman (pitcher, outfield), James Harvey (pitcher, first base) and Jake Keniston (second base); junior Matt Stone (catcher); sophomore Connor Fraser (outfield), Jake Powell (pitcher, outfield), Jay Burkard (outfield); and freshmen Matt Barlow (catcher), Brayden Perkins (infield), Troy Reynolds (pitcher, catcher) and Kyle Moore.

Outlook: The Vikings will have considerable speed this season, and will have to be patient at the plate if they hope to find a way to manufacture runs. Pitching and fielding should be the team's strengths and "if those two areas hold up, we should be a playoff team," said Frye. "But our main goal is to get better every day and see what happens at the end [of the season."

Frye said he anticipates Dexter, George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill and Calais to be among the league's elite.
