A 25-year-old Searsport man is accused of maintaining an indoor marijuana growing operation at his home on Nichols Street Tuesday, April 9.

John D. Tripp was arrested on charges of cultivating marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia after Searsport Police Chief Dick LaHaye and Officer Dennis Remillard obtained a search warrant for Tripp's residence. Police were alerted to Tripp's alleged activities by way of an anonymous tip, LaHaye said.

LaHaye said Tripp, who resides at 14 Nichols Street, but is not the homeowner, had 13 marijuana plants in the bathroom and in a closet, all of which LaHaye said were in various stages of growth. Police also located a water pipe inside the home.

Tripp was arrested without incident, LaHaye said, and was transported to Waldo County Jail.
