Virginia Wheaton Landry, 94, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away April 7, 2013. She was born in Boston, and grew up in Ludlow, mass.

She attended college at Gorham, Maine Normal School, where she met and married her husband of 71 years, Carleton Landry, who predeceased her in 2009. She was also predeceased by her brothers, John and Arthur Wheaton, and a sister, Betty Buck.

She taught school for many years in Castine and Belfast. She also taught reading in Jacksonville, Fla., for many years. After her retirement, she volunteered at Wolfson Hospital in Jacksonville and ran Mother Hubbard's Thrift Store. She loved being a Pink Lady, and also volunteered at the NICU at Wolfson.

She and Carleton had five children, sons Alex, James and John Landry; daughters Rosemary Sergent and Jo-Anne Cioe. She had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life was held April 12 in Jacksonville, Fla.
