Our Uniformed Men entertained

"The ladies of the G. A. R. entertained last Monday evening in the Memorial hall the boys who have returned home from service in its various branches. Mrs. Nettie M. White, the patriotic instructor of the Circle, had charge of the arrangements, with Miss Minnie Shaw, the Circle's conductor as an assistant. Supper was served at 6 p.m., when covers were laid for about 100 with members of the Circle serving. There were 35 men in uniform, six recently returned from overseas; 13 members of the Thomas H. Marshall Post, and 10 members of the A. E. Clark Camp, Sons of Veterans. The menu was varied and abundant. "

"Capt. William V. Pratt, now in command of the U. S. S. New York, arrived last week for a short visit at his home in this city. His ship arrived in New York last week."

After Hours 'Biz'

"The work week's repetitious routine was broken recently by about 100 members and associates of the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce. Members of the business community attended the first in a series of after-work mixers that are designed to promote fellowship among chamber members, and improve communication between area business proprietors, according to chamber executive director Jim Lovejoy. The premier 'Business After Hours' event was hosted April 6 at the printing facilities of The Belfast Press on High Street. The gathering was jointly sponsored by the chamber, the newspaper printing company and its affiliate, The Republican Journal. Attendees enjoyed refreshments provided by Belfast caterer Jonathan Perkins, witnesses the awarding of dorr prizes, and watched a demonstration of the operation of the full newspaper press.
