Bruce W. Farrar, 51, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at Waldo County General Hospital with family and friends by his side. Bruce was born on July 16, 1962 in Belfast. Bruce grew up in Morrill and enjoyed outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his son Josh and brothers Dale and Robert. He was a master burner technician and worked on heating systems, both gas and oil, in the local area for years. More recently he worked on mill shut-downs and worked locally with his life-long friend, Joe McDevitt. Bruce made many middle of the night visits for friends who needed his help because of their furnace not working. As long as they had coffee on for him, he was pleased to go to their rescue. His easy going nature, willingness to help people and his loyalty resulted in his having many close friends who stood by him during his recent battle with cancer.

He is predeceased by his father George B. Farrar, and niece Tracy L. Rowlands both of Morrill.

Bruce is survived by his mother Natalie H. Farrar of Belfast, his son Joshua W. Farrar and friend Lyndsy Collins of Liberty; his daughter Amanda E. Farrar and friend Jake Whitcomb of Montville; his brothers George Dale Farrar and his wife Elly of Morrill, Robert P. Farrar and friend Theresa Patten of Morrill; sisters Brenda H. Farrar Rowlands and her husband Roger of Morrill, Carol L. Farrar Hawes and her husband David of Dedham, Donna J. Farrar Ladd and her husband Al; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Joe McDevitt, Lisa McCafferty Woods, and Laurie McCafferty.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave. Belfast, Maine, 04915.

Memorial donations may be made in Bruce’s name to Waldo County General Hospitals Hospice Unit or Oncology Patient Assistance Fund.
