A 78-year-old man from Belfast and his 79-year-old female passenger both suffered injuries stemming from a rollover accident police responded to on Pinnacle Road Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5.

According to the accident report at Waldo County Sheriff's Office, Ernest Farris was transported by Liberty Ambulance to an area hospital with complaints of pain in his neck after the crash. His passenger, Minnie Farris, suffered broken bones throughout her body and was taken by Searsmont Rescue to a local hospital for treatment.

Waldo County Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton said the accident report does not specify which hospital the couple was transported to and that as of Monday afternoon, Oct. 7, he has heard no further updates on either of their conditions.

According to the report, Ernest Farris was traveling north on Pinnacle Road in a 2007 Saturn just after 1 p.m. when he failed to keep in the proper lane. The vehicle crossed the center line, exited on the left side of the road and struck a rock. The impact redirected the vehicle back across the road and sent it off the right side and into a ditch embankment, after which the car rolled onto its roof.
