The Mount View boys and girls soccer teams are in the midst of losing streaks.

While the Mustang girls have had a season-long funk with just one win on the campaign, the Mustang boys are in unfamiliar territory, having dropped their third straight game.

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, the Mount View boys fell 5-2 at Waterville, while the Mount View girls lost 9-0 to the Purple Panthers at Thorndike.

Boys soccer

Waterville 5, Mount View 2

At Waterville Oct. 8, the Mustangs took an early lead, but could not hold off the Purple Panthers and dropped their third straight game.

Bryan Jungels and Kyle Doughty scored for Mount View, while Kyle Crowell added an assist.

Tommy Samson had a hat trick for Waterville, while Michael Olivera added three assists. Kaleb Kane added two goals in the win.

Mikey Hustus made eight saves on 18 shots in goal for the 'Stangs, while Zach Disch made four saves on 13 shots in net for Waterville. Mount View led 2-1 in corner kicks.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, Mount View (4-5-1, 28.5714 points) is 11th, while Ellsworth (7-0-1, 71.2372 points) is first in the 19-team region. The top 13 teams qualify for the playoffs.

Girls soccer

Waterville 9, Mount View 0

At Thorndike Oct. 8, the Purple Panthers remained unbeaten with a convincing win over the Mustangs.

Pilar Elias netted six goals for the winners, while Jenn Christensen, Colleen O'Donnell and Sarah Shoulta also scored for Waterville.

Gabi Martin made two saves on two shots in net for the Purple Panthers, while Tori Strain, Logan Basford and Chelsea Lydem combined in goal to make 10 saves on 20 shots for Mount View.

Waterville has outscored opponents 67-1 this season. The lone goal scored against them was by Belfast, which fell to the Purple Panthers 10-1 Sept. 10.
