A Knox County Grand Jury handed up 29 indictments following three days of deliberation, including charges of murder, sex assaults, and promotion of prostitution.

Todd Gilday, 44, of Belfast, arrested in late August for the murder of 55-year-old Lynn Arsenault, was indicted on three counts, intentional or knowing murder, attempted murder with a firearm and elevated aggravated assault with a firearm.

According to the indictment, On Aug. 28, in Waldo County, Gilday caused the death of Arsenault with a Mossbery Model 930 12-gauge shotgun. Gilday is also charged with the attempted murder of Aresnault's son, 22-year-old Matthew Day. Gilday shot Day in the arm and stomach, according to court documents.

Gilday forced his way into Day's residence at 162 Waldo Ave. on the night of Wednesday, Aug. 28, according to reports. He is held at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset without bail pending the outcome of a Harnish hearing. Harnish hearings are held in cases such as this to determine whether bail will be set, and if so, what conditions will be in place while a defendant is free on bail, according to reports.

Gilday faces a possible life sentence on the murder charge and a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years. On the elevated aggravated assault charge, Gilday could face up to 30 years.

Police arrested Gilday at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Gilday was indicted in Knox County courts because grand jury in Waldo County does not meet again until mid-November. Due to the serious nature of the crime, the state wanted to get started right away, according to Leane Zainea, assistant attorney general.

Addam L. Sheets, 26, of Camden is charged with sexual abuse of a minor and one count of unlawful sexual contact.

Sheets is charged with unlawful sexual touching and sexual abuse of a minor following an investigation by Camden Police Department.

The victim was interviewed by police and described a sexual encounter that occurred in March with Sheets. She also said Sheets had told her not to tell anybody about it, according to court documents filed by Camden Police Detective Curt Andrick.

Articles of clothing were collected for evidence, and DNA analysis links Sheets to the crime, said the affidavit.

When Sheets was interviewed by police, he denied having sex with the victim, but admitted to kissing and groping her, said the report.

Curtis Henry Moody, 44, of Warren is charged with four counts of violation of condition of release and one count of promotion of prostitution.

Deputy Michael Sprague had received information that Moody's wife, Wendy, was offering sex for money through the Internet. Deputies from the Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Division set up an operation where Moody approached one of the deputies and offered to have sex in exchange for money, according to the release.

According to an affidavit filed by Sprague, the Knox County Sheriff's Office became concerned after it was believed Curtis Moody, who is incarcerated at the Knox County Jail, was placing hundreds of phone calls to his wife from the jail. As part of a previous conviction, he was not allowed to have contact with her.

In July, Sprague received a letter from Wendy Moody to her husband that was intercepted by jail staff. The letter contained information that she had created an account on an unknown website to attract unknown men and women, according to the affidavit. She was charging between $80 and $200 for various sexual acts and splitting the profits with her husband, according to the report.

On about Sept. 12, Sprague created an email account using a false name requesting to meet up with her. On Sept. 26, she met with an undercover deputy, who was pretending to be that person. Wendy Moody has not been indicted.

They met at the Yankee Traveler Motel in Warren where she was arrested.

Also indicted by the grand jury is:

Joshua E. Martel, 36, of New Orleans, La., is charged with one count of aggravated criminal trespass, one count of assault, and one count of criminal mischief.

Robert J. Milhomme Sr., 59, of Rockland, is charged with one count of theft by unauthorized taking and one count of receiving stolen property.

Stafford Goodman, 27, of Biddeford, is charged with one count of aggravated trafficking in cocaine, and two counts of aggravated trafficking in heroin.

Lauryn Smith, 20, of Biddeford is charged with one count of unlawful trafficking in cocaine and one count of unlawful trafficking of heroin and one count of aggravated trafficking in heroin.

Alicia Santamore, 30, of Thomaston is charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in heroin, one count of aggravated trafficking in cocaine and one count of violation of condition of release.

Brian Lee, 25, of South Thomaston is charged with one count of aggravated trafficking in cocaine and one count of  aggravated trafficking in heroin.

John E. Thibeault, 34, now town listed, is charged with one count of failing to appear. Thibeault, having admitted to pre-conviction bail on a charge of manslaughter, failed to appear as required.

Harland R. Edwards, 42, of Warren is charged with once count of operating after revocation.

Kurt N. Schleicher, 49, of St. George is charged with one count of criminal operating under the influence and one count of operating beyond license condition of restriction.

Travis W. Carter, 26, of Warren is charged with once count of elevated aggravated assault for causing serious bodily injury to another man with a flashlight or a bat.

Lucas J. Fisher, 30, of Wilton, is charged with aggravated operating after habitual offender revocation and one count of criminal operating under the influence.

Robert R. Demmons Jr., 38, of Owls Head, is charged with once count of theft by unauthorized taking.

Daniel R. Roy, 27, of Union, is charged with theft by unauthorized taking.

Dusty Michael O'Brien, 30, of the Maine State Prison, is charged with aggravated assault.

Leroy Howard Parker Jr., 23, of the Maine State Prison, is charged with one count of aggravated assault.

Carol Hooper, 71, of Appleton is charged with one count of aggravated criminal mischief, one count of violation of condition of release, and one count of assault.

Jason E. Kurr, 31, of Rockland is charged with one count of trafficking in prison contraband, one count of unlawful possession of Suboxone, and one count of violation of condition of release.

John R. Taylor, 21, of The Maine State Prison, is charged with aggravated assault.

Robert L. Sukeforth, 42, of Rockland is charged with one count of violating condition of release.

Christopher C. Robbins, 33, of Hope is charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and one count of driving to endanger.

Matthew R. Donaher, 28, of Camden is charged with one count of tampering with a witness or informant and one count of violation of condition of release.

Robert E. Woodham Jr., 38, of Lewiston is charged with one count of trafficking in prison contraband and one count of unlawful possession of Suboxone.

Jason A. Weymouth, 42, of Warren, is charged with one count of domestic violence assault, one count of obstructing report of crime or injury, and one count of criminal mischief.

Samuel Sanchez, 37, of Rockland, is charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of violation of condition of release.

Steven E. Clarke, 49, of Owls Head, is charged with one count of tampering with a witness or victim, one count of violation of condition of release, one count of burglary, one count of aggravated criminal trespass, one count of domestic violence assault and one count of criminal mischief.

Christopher Tait, 27, of Camden is charged with one count of theft by unauthorized taking.
