Steven Davis certainly has been making a name for himself during his junior year on the gridiron at Mount View High School.

After the team's latest game against Ellsworth/Sumner, it appears the rest of Eastern Class D has taken notice as well.

Davis cashed in four touchdowns in Mount View's 42-20 win over Ellsworth/Sumner on Friday night, Oct. 11, and did more than merely dazzle behind the line of scrimmage.

The tailback not only scored three touchdowns on the ground, he added another on a punt return in the victory. Davis rushed for 117 yards on three carries and had 106 yards on special teams.

Mount View (3-3) led 29-0 after the first quarter, 43-6 at halftime and 43-12 after three quarters.

Jack Axsom had four carries for 83 yards and a score for Mount View, while Matt Wheeler also had an 8-yard touchdown run and tackled an Ellsworth/Sumner runner in the end zone for a two-point safety.

Kenny McGray kicked three extra points for the 'Stangs, while Alex Bennett added two and Trevor Saucier blocked a point-after attempt following an Ellsworth/Sumner touchdown.

Chris Spaulding and Clint Spaulding led the Mustangs in tackles.

Ellsworth/Sumner (0-6) became a club team a few years ago and now is a varsity program.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class D, Mount View (2-3, 83.9024 points) is sixth, while Bucksport (6-0, 143.9024 points) is first in the 10-team region. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.

The score of Friday's game has yet to be reported to the Crabtree Point site.
