The Mount View boys and girls soccer squads were in action on Friday, Oct. 11 against Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield with both teams hoping to put an end to their respective losing streaks.

The Mustang boys did so on the road in a 4-0 win over the Huskies, while the Mustang girls remained winless in their last six games following a 3-1 home loss to MCI.

Boys soccer

Mount View 4, Maine Central Institute 0

At Pittsfield Oct. 11, the Mustangs put an end to their three-game losing streak with a shutout win over the Huskies.

Joey Danna, Vittorio Frascolino, Kyle Crowell and Brandon Reynolds scored for the winners, while Nathan Wren and John Piotti provided assists.

Mikey Hustus made three saves on four shots in goal for Mount View, while Charlie Moriarty made nine saves on 30 shots for MCI. The 'Stangs led 6-1 in corner kicks.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, Mount View (4-5-1, 30.8036 points) is 12th, while Ellsworth (9-0-1, 91.9005 points) is first in the 19-team region. The top 13 teams qualify for the playoffs.

Girls soccer

Maine Central Institute 3, Mount View 1

At Thorndike Oct. 11, the Mustangs suffered an own-goal less than a minute into the game and never recovered as they fell to the Huskies.

Hannah Emery was credited with the own-goal for MCI, while Ashley Alton and Caitlin Tozier also scored for the visitors. Nicole Schofield scored, on an assist from Meri Picard, for Mount View.

Logan Basford made seven saves on 11 shots in net for the 'Stangs, while Ryleigh Lord made seven saves on 13 shots in goal for MCI. The Mustangs led 8-4 in corner kicks.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, Mount View (1-9-1, 6.6964 points) is 16th, while Hermon (12-0, 99.7704 points) is first in the 19-team region. The top 13 teams qualify for the playoffs.
