Belfast Police said about $40,000 worth of tools and merchandise were stolen from WinsMore Garage Door Co. over the weekend.

Detective Sgt. Bryan Cunningham said the theft of the tools and merchandise was discovered on Tuesday, Oct. 15, when the store re-opened after being closed for the holiday weekend. Cunningham said the theft occurred sometime between Saturday and Tuesday morning, but he did not know whether the burglary occurred during the day or at night.

The thief or thieves entered the business, which is located on Mill Lane in Belfast, through a side door and then entered a basement storage area. Cunningham said anyone with any information regarding the burglary should contact police at 338-2040.
