Republic or monarchy?

The recent government shutdown at Washington District of Columbia is confusing. The players do not seem to be acting in the best interest of our country. What is going on? What country do they represent?

Who are these people anyway? They claim to be representing the Republic of United States of America, but are they really? The book by Major Berkheimer in 1893, "Military Government and Martial Law," states that in the law of war, a military regime does not have to verbally announce its presence, it merely needs to show intent, like a flag, as the Marines raised the American flag on Iwo Jima which depicted U.S. control in World War II. This is enough evidence to proclaim jurisdiction and control.

Watching news on television I notice that the flag hanging in the United States House of Representatives is different than the one I received at my father's veteran's memorial service. The flag or banner hanging in the House is red, white, blue and gold. The stripes are thirteen red, white and gold, which is a different flag from Old Glory. Has anyone noticed?

This appears to be evidence that a coup has taken place and the government is military, no longer civilian or a republic under the control of a constitution.

This does not bode well for us Americans as it appears we have lost our republic. My father is turning in his grave. Is anyone else paying attention?

Benjamin Franklin was asked after the signing of the Constitution at Philadelphia in 1787: "Do we have a republic or a monarchy?" He replied, "A republic, if you can keep it." It looks like we lost it.
