Douglas A. Schinella, 79, of Concord N.H., died Oct. 24 in hospice at the Veterans Hospital in Augusta. He was the only child of Ceasar P. Schinella and Ethel M. Kelley.

Schinella graduated from Concord High School in 1952 then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was commissioned on the U.S.S. Forrestal until his discharge in 1956.

He returned to Concord and married Lucette Bourgault and they have four children. He was a successful salesman for many years and was well known in the restaurant industry.

He has lived in the Belfast area for 27 years. He was married to Polly Young, of Belfast for many years.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his home and his weekly poker game with his friends. He loved his family. His greatest enjoyment was in making people laugh. He had a wonderful sense of humor.

He leaves behind four children, Jane and Steve Quirk of Scarborough, Marcia L. Gibson of Old Orchard Beach, Diane L.Schinella of South Portland and James and Kristin Schinella of Philadelphia, Pa. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Erin, Mary, Meghan, Kimberly, Francesca, Luciana and Marco.

A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Riposta Funeral Home at 182 Waldo Ave. in Belfast, Maine.
