Perhaps the most physically fit student-athletes in the state converged on the Twin Brook Recreation Area on Saturday, Nov. 2 to compete for team and individual high school cross-country championships, as well as coveted spots in the upcoming New England meet.

Those who competed in Saturday's talent-laden meet included a contingent of Midcoast runners from Belfast, Camden Hills, Oceanside of Rockland/Thomaston and Medomak Valley of Waldoboro.

While none of the local teams or individuals garnered state titles, Camden Hills' Brittany Bowman, a former state individual champion, and Ben Trapani earned spots in the 79th New England Cross-Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Manchester, N.H.

The top 25 male and female runners, after the state Class A, B and C times were combined, qualified for the New England meet.
