A Belfast man escaped injury after striking a utility pole head-on Sunday, Nov. 17, on Woods Road in Belfast.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had driven off the road and struck a utility pole at 4:40 p.m. The driver of the vehicle, 53-year-old Timothy Groening, of Belfast, lost control of his 2003 Kia four-door sedan and struck a utility pole head-on.

The driver and passenger side airbags deployed and Groening was not injured, according to the accident report. Central Maine Power was contacted to repair the broken utility pole.

No charges were filed as a result of the crash.
