A Palermo man was indicted by the Waldo County Grand Jury on charges in connection to a police investigation that revealed he allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old girl last year.

The grand jury indicted Jason Andrew Baldwin, 39, on charges of sexual abuse of a minor, allowing a minor to possess or consume liquor, domestic violence assault, refusing to submit to arrest and escape.

The charges result from a Waldo County Sheriff's Office investigation that began in August, after police received a complaint about Baldwin harassing the alleged victim. Baldwin reportedly went to the victim's home and knocked on her window at night, according to previously published articles.

During an investigation into Baldwin's behavior and after speaking with the girl, police determined that he had a sexual relationship with the victim when she was 15 years old. After the relationship ended, the victim's mother told police, she believed Baldwin was obsessed with her daughter.

When police went to interview Baldwin, he reportedly refused to cooperate and kept telling officers he wanted to call his parents before he pulled away from the officers. He eventually locked himself in his house and refused to leave. Additional officers were called to the scene in case a stand-off situation developed, but police said at the time of the incident that they later convinced Baldwin to come out of his house and he was taken into custody without further incident.
